The film was born out of my fascination with puppetry as an art form and my desire to showcase the technical and performative craftsmanship involved in animating otherwise lifeless objects. I chose to interview students and professors at the HfS Ernst Busch's Puppetry Department to provide a behind-the-scenes look at what drives these artists' passion to create and perform.
Through my original music compositions, inspired by vintage circuses, antique music boxes, and variety shows, I wanted to highlight the performances of the puppeteers as well as emphasize the nostalgia and magic that puppetry evokes.
